Interacting with Devices
Devices represent the physical objects installed on your system and connected to the platform.
Depending on its configuration, each device will show Instant Readings and options to control the device operation. Those varies from turning On/Off, Opening and Closing gates, setting the Air Conditioned temperature, among others.
List Mode
When first entering the Control Center you’ll see a list of objects, including devices. While on list mode devices will show information about their location, current state, instant reading and metadata.
- Main Zone - Where the device is located at your facilities. Know more about zones management
- Device Name - Configurable name attributed to the device
- Control Panel - Opens a control panel for the device
- Status Indicator - Indicates whether the device is On or Off
- Instant Reading - Shows the live reading for the device
- Progress Chart - A visual representation for the current reading along the device normal operation range
- Metadata - Shows information about how many devices are included for Composite or Group Devices (see bellow), how many Reports and Rules include this device.
Not every device will include every information shown above, that will depend on the device’s type.
View Mode
In View Mode devices have a simplified view with the essential information and controls:
- Main Zone - Where it’s located in your facilities
- Device Name
- Options to enter Edit Mode and closing the View Mode
- Status Indicator - Indicates whether the device is On or Off
- Instant Reading - Shows the live reading for the device
- Progress Chart - A visual representation for the current reading along the device normal operation range
- Device Control - Shows the commands available to control this device operation
- Metadata - Shows information about Reports and Rules where this device is included. Click in the symbols to show those associations.
Not visible in the image above but also available in the View Mode:
- Device Report
Not every device will have the complete feature set. They will depend on the device type and your system configuration.
Edit Mode
Edit Mode is enabled from the device View mode by pressing the button located at the top, or the Edit button at the bottom.
This mode enables a set of configuration options for the device:
- Main Zone - Where the device is located at your facilities. Know more about zones management
- Device Name - Configurable name attributed to the device
- Options to enter Edit Mode and closing the View Mode
- Status Indicator - Indicates whether the device is On or Off
- Instant Reading - Shows the live reading for the device
- Progress Chart - A visual representation for the current reading along the device normal operation range
- Device Control - Shows the commands available to control this device operation
- Visible in List - Sets if the device should be listed in the main Control Center view.
Not every device will have the complete feature set. They will depend on the device type and your system configuration.
Editing Devices
In every Device’s editing mode it’s possible to change visualization and presentation parameters.
The options available will vary depending on the device type, but generally you will be able to manage the Device Range Settings and Alerts, the Device Scheduler, set the Device’s name and Zones associations.
Devices editing mode may not be available to you, depending on your access level permissions.
Device Range Settings and Alerts
Available to every device with measurement instant readings, this feature makes it possible to setup the device’s normal operation range and setting alerts for status events such as device not working or consuming above an expected value.
Device Alerts makes it possible to keep close surveillance hover system activity, inform your whenever something abnormal happens.
Range values also enable the Chart Visualization for the device widget, view and edit modes.
Device Scheduler
Devices with On/Off status control also have the Device Scheduler. This feature allows you to automate your devices operation by setting an weekly schedule as shown in figure:
The weekly schedule allows two types of device actions:
- Force Device On/Off
- Turn Device On/Off
The Force action will overrule any command given for the device during the selected period. This means that even if someone gives the device a different command, the forced action will overrule that.
The Turn action will give a single instruction to the device. Any instruction given to device afterwards will not be overruled.
After setting the Device Schedule according to your needs, save your work with the Save button. This will initiate a process called Rules Deployment.
If your device is a member of a Device Group, this feature will be disabled and any scheduling will need to be applied in the Device Group settings.
Adding Devices
Creating new devices is only available for Virtual Devices at application level. If you need to add physical devices to your system please contact your service provider.
To create a new Device, go to the Control Center section then open the context menu at the right corner of the screen. Choose the desired Device type and follow the on-screen instructions.
Deleting Devices
Similarly to Adding Devices, you can only delete Virtual Devices.
To remove a Virtual Device from your system, enter the Device’s View Mode and press the Delete button at the bottom of the screen.
When deleting Composite Devices, you need to re-enable the included devices if you need to have them available in Control Center.
